The modular lab and classroom layout along with a strategic mechanical & electrical servicing design allows for EEEL to respond to current and future laboratory needs of an ever-evolving academic environment.

EEEL set out to create a highly flexible teaching lab environment that allowed ideas to mix and build off each other by creating visibility into labs and spaces outside of labs for people to interact.

EEEL’s celebrated central stair doubles as an incubator for social connection and cross-polination. It provides seating and pause spaces tangent to the building’s main circulation, as well as views into neighbouring labs.

EEEL is one of the largest LEED platinum certified laboratory buildings in North America. It was also awarded the AZ Award of Merit, Environmental Leadership in 2015.
