325 Carrall Street is a mixed-use heritage restoration housing development. This seven-storey building provides 37 dwelling units ranging from micro-suites, studio units, and one-bedroom units, with retail on the ground floor. The focus on delivering a variety of smaller, quality spaces instead of exclusionary penthouse living was intended to align with the City of Vancouver’s Affordable Housing Strategy. The top floor features a communal rooftop deck that looks out onto the North Shore mountains and amenity space with a dining room for social gatherings.

*

Dark toned brick references and contrasts the neighbouring heritage buildings. Curved corner glazing and fritted bird-friendly glass softens contemporary modern angles and reflects mountain views.

*

Locating shared amenities and green spaces on the rooftop, rather than a private penthouse, democratizes light and views while creating a social heart of the building.
