As Principal and Studio Lead, Maia brings over two decades of architectural expertise and passion for people to her role at Human Studio.
Since Human Studio’s establishment in 2017, Maia has played a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s unique organizational culture. Her commitment to preserving and fostering the values that define the studio has been instrumental in building the thriving culture it has today.
In her role as Studio Lead, Maia actively safeguards and supports the individual talents and aspirations within the team, recognizing the correlation between a happy studio environment and successful project outcomes.
Beyond the studio, Maia extends her mentorship to emerging designers, helping them navigate their professional journeys. She also volunteers with Ballet BC, Women in Architecture, Nestworks, and the RAIC Promoting Equity and Justice Advisory Committee, demonstrating her commitment to community involvement.
With a decade of service on the Granville Island Trust, including five years as Chairperson, Maia’s dedication to community engagement and leadership is deeply rooted. Before joining Human Studio, she spent seven years running her own practice in Victoria, following five years at DIALOG Vancouver.
