Nestled into a tight site between a pedestrian greenway and a busy vehicle corridor, this supportive housing project takes its visual cues from the surrounding brick buildings. When built, the project will provide critical housing, community garden space, and amenity services for residents. As a precedent-setting steel modular tower, this Passive House project will be affordable to build and to operate. Providing long-term durability and resilience for both people and the planet were key performance drivers for this project.
To help balance privacy, visual street side interest, and natural daylight, the design has a careful composition of high-performance windows, textured brick detailing, and volumetric reveals. A public art piece on the Arbutus Greenway facade creates a beacon of light along the popular cycling and pedestrian route.
